Question: How can there even be a critical battery message if the battery is dead?
That’s an e-ink display, once that display is turned on, it wont change it’s state, so before the battery dies, the kindle changes to the critical battery screen so, the screen will first show something different until the device is turned on again.
You could even break the screen and it would still show the critical battery display.
Hope you understand what i mean
This was a big help. After I got the screen with the tree and a space to type Reset, I left it on that screen and plugged it in and it stayed and the battery charged. After charging, the normal screen appeared. I also learned how to actually turn the kindle off and not just let it go to sleep, and to make sure the wifi is turned off. I’m hoping it I pay attention and keep it charged, I won’t have this problem again.
Because my kindle is so old, I can’t register it or connect it to the internet. This isn’t so bad because I still can download library books and install them and they never expire!
